Jill Cook Counselling helping people to find their own solutions
Counselling
As a counsellor I work with individuals and couples.
I believe that there is a strong link between our emotional and physical well-being. If we are unwell emotionally this can have an effect on our physical health, affecting the way in which we are able to live our lives.
Talking things over with someone who is not involved with the rest of your life and who can provide a secure and confidential place, can help to release emotions which have been bottled up, allowing you to live in a more satisfying way.
How do I work?
I am trained as a Person Centred Counsellor. Put simply, this means that I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is very important and I aim to be as understanding, accepting and genuine as I can be. Within this relationship I hope that you will be able to explore the things that are troubling you and find your own solutions. I have a particular interest in the expressive arts and may use creative work with paints, clay or music if you wish. This approach can sometimes help when finding the words is too difficult.
Some of the issues that might bring people to counselling are:
- Relationship difficulties
- Bereavement and other losses
- Self esteem
- Stress, anxiety and depression
- Sexuality
- Sexual abuse
- Work related issues e.g. redundancy, bullying
- Life transitions e.g. new baby, child leaving home, retirement
This is by no means an exhaustive list. Sometimes clients come who wish to learn more about themselves. I welcome clients who come for any reason and look forward to working with you to find your own solutions.
